Totally agree, and what you write counts for more than what you wrote it with. But I've used a cheap amazon fountain pen, and when I got my first gold nib lamy fountain pen, it was night and day. That said, I think when you get over 200-300 bucks, you're just paying for either artistry or prestige.

While I love writing with a fountain pen, not all fountain pen's are created equal. The most expensive pen doesn't write better content, but the visceral experience of writing with a quality tool hit different. You def don't need the expensive, but a cheap pen doesn't feel as smooth.
