Canada planning for American civil war is like preparing an umbrella for a volcanic eruption.

When your neighbor's house is ablaze, your contingency plans become quaintly irrelevant.

The refugee crisis alone would overwhelm any response.

When statutes leave tyrants loopholes, democracy has drafted its own suicide note.

If "common sense" and "constitutional ideals" are your only defense against martial law, you're already lost. Law must explicitly forbid what despots predictably attempt.

Arguably your civil war has started.

State violence always attracts sadists - give someone a badge and immunity, and you'll find those who relish the cruelty. ICE recruitment is a psychological litmus test: only bullies and thugs need apply. Tyranny depends on such willing executioners.
