When I was a kid a million years ago the biggest advice columnist, Ann Landers, regularly counseled her readers to "mend family fences before it's too late."

It was, of course, all bullshit. She herself was estranged from her twin sister, who had a competing advice column Dear Abby.

How exactly do these people think you can notice a stranger's immigration status just by looking at them?

Stalin famously demanded long standing ovations from his audience, with the threat that the first one to stop clapping would be sent to a gulag. But I'm sure that could never happen here.

I long for the good old days, when Republicans at least pretended to care about democracy instead of openly stating they are redrawing maps for the purpose of partisan gain.

Typical property taxes there are around $600/mo at the high end, way cheaper than rent. What manner of professionals are they?

Can we identify some successes at doing this? Even in cases where there's political will, such as Nay Pyi Taw (the new capital of Myanmar), they built the city but little economic activity followed. There's just no reason a business would want to be there.

Let's never forget there was an SRO at Uvalde.

The editorial closes with "and if the presence of an officer saves even one kid, it’s worth the risk."

Magnolia shouldn't get any more housing because it's a peninsula. Montlake is an isthmus (with a channel cut through). Edmonds is a watershed. Tell me your geography and I'll tell you your excuse.

I did bicycle along the waterfront many times (my commute) while the viaduct stood. Biggest danger was when a cruise ship was docked: taxis and Ubers, private cars, and pedestrians with luggage all moving about randomly and without looking.

I think this why many farmers and others who rely on the undocumented voted GOP: they don't really want their own workers deported, but they want the threat of deportation to keep the rest of them scared and compliant.
