You guys, everyone here in these replies 💔. Feel your fear, let it course through you, but then tire of it and say: "Fine you motherfuckers, fucking bring it on! I am not afraid. I will face the road ahead and I will fight for my joy, my fellows, my country." Get scared. But then get mad. Steadfast!

And it's not just meltwater channels under the ice, it's also vertical channels that drain seasonal surface melt. If you look at surface meltwater maps of the Greenland ice sheet, all that water eats down into the ice. Maybe we're wrong but many warming predictions have been underestimated.

That is so cool! I studied glacial geomorphology back in the day, including timelines of deglaciation of the Laurentide ice sheet, and maybe my education is dated but when you look at deglaciation maps of NA, it went pretty fast. And today's warming is still accelerating so...

I have said this for years! Deglaciation can be sudden and rapid. Warming from -20 to -1 can take a long while. A significantly warmed ice mass, riddled with meltwater channels, can disappear in a moment, -1 to 0 and boom: phase change.

At my feeder here in eastern Ontario it's chickadees, red and white nuthatches, Blue Jays and Cardinals mostly, with the Juncos visiting standing seed heads. But busy busy busy!
