Serotinous pinecones release their seeds in the worst of conditions, literally, they open to release when exposed to fire. Once described to me as an exploding pinecone, I used that descriptor on my life. It used to be such a positive thing for me, but now I am scared where the seeds will land.

Most of my childhood I went by a nickname, which was fine when I was really little. As I got older I grew uncomfortable with that name, and began to feel unsafe with it being used. I did my best to get people to change what they called me, to my actual first name, my name was still barely used, not
