There is a very loud amusement park right in front of my present lodgings.
the other thing I've been playing on this so far is Dragon Crystal, which I owned on the Game Gear back in the day, & which fascinated and confounded me for a long time. It's only now I recognise it as a very pared-down roguelike dungeon-crawler that still feels quite modern and playable today.

Brazil is probably a top 5 film for me and rewatching it now I so appreciate how it machine-guns the audience with cinematic gags - silly little moments - that are simultaneously technically laboured, totally throwaway, and also thematically resonant.

He's also quite into Burnout Paradise because it's a big silly open playground that never bounces you back out to a menu, never even makes you do anything in particular, apart from smash cars into things at high velocity. Still so fun it feels like it must be age inappropriate.

watched 24 Hour Party People tonight & it occurred to me that *that* is how you treat and shoot a film to look era-appropriate without just slapping a filter on everything. What a picture.

Running round and round the park and along the canal with an empty head listening to my tunes. I don't know if this is good or bad or happy or sad anymore but it's certainly a thing I have come to require.

playing this late at night w headphones on and I hear a quick muffled whisper out of nowhere that sounds like someone is right next to me. I nearly had to turn it off. jfc.
