I think a lot of immigrants who have their documents disdain those who don’t, claiming that if they could immigrate the “legal” way, everyone can. At least this is how my Chinese American parents think.

I did not say that masks were the biggest issue. It is possible to have a protest with everyone who can masking. But since masks are not the biggest issue, feel free to disengage from this conversation.

I am totally for the protests. I am just giving voice to a critique of the procedures. Both do matter. The protests will hopefully have a big impact just as they are, but hopefully future protests will be more inclusive and safe to the immunocompromised.

This is not just my opinion; many disabled people do not participate because of the risk to their health. Some would participate if more people masked.

Yes, but it’s still very crowded and people are close to each other. If you can smell the sweat of those around you, you’re probably close enough to spread infections too.

This gives me hope. But most protestors have not been wearing masks. New variants of COVID are arising — one gives you an extremely sore throat. I expect cases of COVID to rise as a result of protests without precautions. These protests are inaccessible to many disabled people and endanger them.
