There’ll be 52 homes in the #Saltaire Living Advent Calendar. On December 2, the window will be revealed at 21 Mary St, home to Anthony McGowan in 1919, who emigrated to the US in 1923 & returned as a stowaway 5yrs later. With 6 months for indecent assault, Anthony spent Xmas 1932 in the clink.

History repeats itself in #Saltaire. The new Coffee & General Store at 1 Daisy Place, where William London opened his Grocers & General Store in 1868. Trading for 97yrs, it put a bankrupt grocer at No.5 out of business. No such rivalry now!Good luck to the new shop.
