Imagine a 10-year-old girl, anywhere in the world, without access to the best mathematicians… using these tools every day, learning, asking questions, understanding. If she keeps her curiosity alive, she could reach a PhD-level understanding in just a few years.

Several reports have come out from brilliant mathematicians describing how GPT-5 has managed to solve problems that were once considered almost impossible — with just a bit of human guidance and context.

That fills me with excitement.

Authors with accepted papers are encouraged to indicate if they prefer to present these papers in Mexico City. We now have 187 papers confirmed to be presented at Mexico, with new sign-ups daily. As our cap is 300 papers, first-come-first-serve, we encourage authors to secure their slot now.

I noticed today that PyPI now (not sure for how long) has a filtering option when you look at the distributions of packages. That's a nice quality of life improvement.

Along the way, I was fortunate to find mentors including my thesis advisor Dr Carlos Valero and Dra Berta Gamboa, among many people. They didn’t just guide my professional background- they believed in me, mentored me, and pushed me to pursue excellence.

I am beyond excited to announce that ggplot2 4.0.0 has just landed on CRAN.

It's not every day we have a new major #ggplot2 release but it is a fitting 18 year birthday present for the package.

Get an overview of the release in this blog post and be on the lookout for more in-depth posts #rstats

So then I am happy to have G Box quote back
mariaoros.bsky.social
The first time I encountered G Box’s timeless words was during my best friend Vero’s dissertation in statistics to major in Math at CIMAT.
I remember it with a smile—she presented her model with elegance, and in closing, citing G Box, saying that her creation was wrong (as all models) but useful.

This site is a companion to the excellent work of my colleague @ibaumann, who developed the Quarto (R) version of our Open Source Survey results. Building on that effort, we now also provide a MyST (Python) version. Together, we make the survey results accessible to both R and Python communities.
