Recorded the call of the endangered Red-Cockade Woodpecker in the longleaf pine forest yesterday w/ my Merlin app @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social I saw one flying moments later. There are around 15k of these birds in the wild. They live in family units almost exclusively in longleaf pine trees. 💚💚💚💚
