She/her, mom, used to be a wedding photographer, now I help make simchas happen with administrative prowess, lover of rom coms, hater of extremism. Located in Vancouver, BC.
I had an emotional dream last night about being back in New York. Like most of my dreams it was fuzzy upon waking but I felt a lingering sadness that dissipated when I realized I was snuggling next to my sleeping daughter. Who then farted and asked if she could play a video game with her dad.

My husband and 4yo daughter wrote a song together and I can’t stop smiling about it 😍😍😍😍😍

It’s a good day to take a nice walk outside and get away from the noise. Clear your head for a bit if you are able to. It’s gonna be a long and tough four years. Photo taken in Lynn Canyon, North Vancouver.

Found this photo on an old hard drive from 2010. At the time I thought it was too dark but now I have changed my mind! #photography

A friend of mine from college lost their home in the LA fires. It’s gotten me thinking about what matters most and what I’d try desperately to save if I had to evacuate. It’s also made me want to get serious about finally digitizing old family photos and film from the 90s/00s! #filmphotography

My heart is with LA right now. A few people I know have lost homes. Unimaginable!

Rainbow spray from a garden in nyc early 2000s. I’ve been feeling under the weather so needed a colorful pick me up today. #photography

Sometimes it pays to look down. This year I want to remind myself that changing perspective (literally and figuratively) is essential to switch things up when feeling stuck. Some street shots from the Times Square area circa 2008 or so. #photography #streetphotography

Happy new year! One of my only resolutions is to shoot some film for fun again! And not get stuck in the same old ruts. Do you have any photo or life goals this year? #filmphotography #believeinfilm #holga120

It's a good time of year to practice your camera swooshing technique on Christmas/holiday fairy lights. Adjusting the focus, zoom and the movement of the camera during each exposure can create some fun variations. I do enjoy the cheerful vividness of the lights. #lightpainting #photography

The winter season allows us to appreciate the beauty of light! Here are some photos of flash lights suspended on strings swirling around making lovely long exposure parabolas. They give me an astrophotography vibe! #photography

I worked for the photo dept of Time Out NY in 2011 and one of my favorite assignments was taking portraits of nude models that pose for art school classes. I was amazed how trusting the models were with me and how freely they used their bodies as a means of artistic expression. #photography

This is what I’d consider to be a “lucky shot”, from a car window with a Holga somewhere along the PA turnpike. With photoshop and AI changing what it means to have luck when creating images, I think many of are drawn to film photography again for its serendipity. #filmphotograohy 🎞️ #believeinfilm

Today I went down a Wicked rabbit hole and learned about “No Fly” shows where the rigging to get Elphaba up during Defying Gravity doesn’t work so all the actors drop to the floor to make her look taller instead. Just thought that was neat. Film image from 2006. #filmphotography #photography

An early experiment in photoshop (2010). My daughter’s been struggling with frustration when she’s learning a new skill (writing her name, pedaling a bike) but hasn’t mastered it yet & I keep tell her “keep trying!”. Being ok with discomfort when learning something new takes practice #photography

I'm feeling some FOMO because of the Eras tour. I'm not even a Swiftie and the tickets were too $ for me to consider it, but it got me thinking of the time when I loved live concerts. MiniBoone on left, Japandroids on right, the fave bands of my twenties, both no longer performing. RIP my youth!

Photo taken at Roosevelt Island, NYC probably 2010. I find the repetitive patterns and geometry of the reflections to be very soothing despite the harshness of the building materials. #photography

It’s been years since I did street photography. What I learned in my years of wedding/portrait work is that even if a moment is unposed or candid, the client probably still wants to look “good” in it. With street photography there’s freedom from that as the subject is just who they are. #photography

Hello new followers, I’m Marielle. So far on this app I’ve been posting non-client photos from my archives. It’s been sparking my interest in photography after being in a photo slump! Here are a few images I shot with a “Diana” lens on my dslr in NYC. I like the tilt shift-like effect. #photography

For a period of time in 2008 I got nosebleeds several times a week for no apparent reason and became interested in things that grow, shed, get discharged, cycle and regenerate. This loose group of photos is titled "Life Cycles". I'm not sure it entirely works but I still dig the vibe. #photography

On the left is one of my favorite street photos (2008, NYC). The right image is the same man on a different day. I observed him with a bag of bread for pigeons a few times during my “lunch break” photo walks when I worked in Times Sq. I wonder what his life was like. #streetphotography #photography

Here’s a photo of my dad in a shuttered shopping mart in Wilmington, Delaware from about 10 years ago. The home he grew up in was also a grocery store his parents ran and it was torn down in the 70s. We sometimes go on drives together to see places that are no longer there. #photography

In 2011 I did some portraits for the New York Observer of people participating in Occupy Wall St camp. Looking back over their signs/slogans, these are still issues people are still fighting for. #photography #streetphotography

I saw Wicked over the weekend and it made me reminisce about my days working in the NYC theater district. This was shot in 2008, when I worked for a PA for the The Little Mermaid on Broadway and I spent my lunch breaks snapping photos of people around Times Square. #photography #streetphotography
