Incredible book, by Françoise Vergès, which examines the racial & gendered politics of wasting lands, bodies & resources & the organised deprivation of vital cleaning needs along racial lines

This goes straight into my reading list for my module on State & Power

PS thanks @chdesportes.bsky.social

For 15 months, genocidaires did everything in their power to prevent a ceasefire.

For 15 months, they participated in the systematic killing of Palestinians.

The article advocates for the necessity of examining the colonial origins of such powers (in France) and techniques within the broader context of counterterrorism.
marinegueguin.bsky.social
The article explores the paradox between the exceptional, unprecedented terrorist threat and the forever application of exceptional powers, expressed through the discursive and political constructed temporalities which render desecuritisation unattainable.

« Une vitesse incroyable » : la barge de Marine Le Pen victime d’un accident à Mayotte, dix blessés

Une barge transportant Marine Le Pen lors de sa visite à Mayotte a subi un accident. Si la députée RN n’a pas été blessée, plusieurs personnes ont été hospitalisées.

Measures which have been created in 1955 during the French colonial regime in Algeria and are now disguised as counterterrorism measures in the contemporary.
marinegueguin.bsky.social
These measures are implemented to control non-white bodies and spaces in the everyday. Whether it is in the former colonies, in the banlieues and quartiers populaires, are streets (during the protests).

The lines between military and police are blurred.

France activates a curfew in Mayotte post cyclone … the militarisation of bodies and spaces in the everyday life here we go again. I recently submitted an article discussing these concepts looking at counterterrorism measures applied beyond the scope of terrorism itself 1/6 👇
