And then she follows this with a story where the band was supposed to meet at 10am in a hotel lobby in preparation for a gig, and Yoshimura doesn't turn up. But nobody goes to find him, everyone just sits around. When he finally turns up an hour later, nobody is cross and everyone is just happy.

But it's also pretty fun at times. There's a scene where Hisako Tabuchi (of Number Girl fame, and lots more, e.g. Pedro), after joining the band, talks about how she always assumed they didn't want to be succesful, and was surprised to find that they did actually want to have success.

It's incredibly honest, often unflattering, and really good on what it means to be in a band, with all its conflicts.

And it's unintentionally incredibly poignant because Yoshimura died just two years after this and there are multiple casual references to him dying early.

Kocorono, a 2011 documentary following bloodthirsty butchers, is wonderful. Bloodthirsty butchers never made it commercially big, but were hugely influential in Japanese alternative music.
