Good one! I think I have most of these in my collection, along with magazine CDs with demos for WC4 and Privateer 2. Internet access back then was quite the luxury, and you'd pay dial-up access by the minute. Actually played with the P2 one recently

(cont) In my college years, I saw gamers that wouldn't give Wing Commander or other flight sims a glance occupy our study rooms in their laptops playing FreeLancer. In my mind, it was the perfect cross between Wing Commander and an RPG, a genre which was quite popular at the time

StarLancer was a great WC-like game, and its multiplayer capabilities were beyond its time: you were able to connect PC and Dreamcast players in the same session which was awesome 😎 FreeLancer doesn't get enough credit, as it brought space sims to the masses.

It's a shame, I really enjoyed Pacific Strike back then. Maybe it's because of the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia, but I really don't remember it crashing that much. Or at least not more than Strike Commander. Would have loved to see this CD-ROM release
