Again comes out in two days and I freaking love it. The main character, Emia, is the sassiest lil’ gremlin I’ve ever had the joy of writing. Officer Uly reminds me of an adorable puppy. And I’ve heard from readers that the serial killer in it is boyfriend material. So I feel accomplished.

That's true...but also I need to cut like 15k words from this thing. 130k for book two of a YA series is a bit much.

And I'm like, "bro, they are literally about to be the only good things in this world that's about to go apocalyptic, let them keep being grateful and supportive."
To be fair, I do need to cut words, but good golly, I love that they're nice.

My writing group literally tells me to stop my characters from saying "thank you" so much. They're like "It's implied." And I'm like "But they did nice things to help each other get stronger."
