As a child before queer media opened up there was Xena & South of Nowhere & Buffy & L Word; Boys Don't Cry & lots of online anime, supernatural stories also fit; then Gilmore Girls*, etc--but also lots of mm rom too

the original phrase doesn't take into account victims who do everything to counteract what was done to them. it also tries to correlate that trauma makes one a bad person.

trauma does change a person, it does not change who they inherently are at their core.
