Believe it or not I only recently heard of the Bargue Plates (archive.org/details/C.Ba...), so I'm giving them a go while applying a simplified Cognitive Drawing (coffeetablecomics.com/cognitive-dr...) / Shrimp Method (prrb.tumblr.com/post/3017779...), meaning I 1) copy, 2) try from memory, then fix
Practice of the 1st Bargue Plate, but each eye appears twice, copied then attempted from memory (then slightly fixed afterwards).

Took me long enough but I finally played Horrified: American Monsters 🖤, the first one I worked on (cover illustration + monster cards). Loved it! Banshee is tough as nails for an easy monster, though, makes me scared of the harder ones. We actually lost but kept playing to at least kill Chupacabra

What do I even say here? I grew up on games from the 90s, their cover illustrations are part of my DNA. The honor of recreating the classic DOOM cover for @modiphius.bsky.social's DOOM Arena Board Game is undescribable.

Crop of Victor Maristane's art for #hardcover2025 Even though I won an important national award and worked on some of the most awesome projects of my career this year, behind the scenes I had tons of rejections, some quite discouraging. But when I knew the theme for #hardcover2025 was RETRO I could'nt not try. Now my work is in an artbook with some of the greatest artists of our time 🥹. Which happens to be a time of increasing institutional prejudice against creators of anything deemed NSFW, with not only social media platforms but also payment processors choosing censorship instead of better conditions. So #hardcover's mission to support freedom of expression matters even more now and I'm proud to be a part of it. The theme is #RETRO, but I'd say the tag #VintageStyleNOTVintageValues applies. This is also the only book (or any product, for that matter) I worked on, in my 12 years of published illustrations, from which part of the sales will go to the artists themselves. Each copy you buy will send money directly to all of us. In times where artists are under even more pressure and attacks, this also matters a lot. A fantastic project through and through, made by exceptionally amazing people. Makes sense, I guess. I'm constantly simping for the miracle of being here not only witnessing this unintelligible existence but being given the power to create within it (and a bit bothered when people choose to destroy instead). Big fan boy of the universe, humans and art.
Your Result: Reverence You create from reverence. There is something you admire more than words can say. You worship and revere it, to the point that you can't help yourself from singing its praises. Victor Maristane ao lado de sua pintura a óleo para a 2ª Batalha de Arte Alla Prima no Coletivo Raiz em Recife. A pintura está disposta em um cavalete, ao fundo é possível ver a exposição permanente do espaço e artistas ainda trabalhando em suas pinturas para o evento.
