Ex-farm worker here.

We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.

Not true AT ALL.

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.

Okinawan sweet potatoes are soooo good. If you can find them, eat them.

This is a fascinating article about traditional Okinawan cuisine and the Ryukyu Kingdom.

Today is the Day of Remembrance, when we reflect on the day Executive Order 9066 was signed, and 120,000 Japanese Americans were forced into internment camps during WWII.

And then I read this?!

This is a really great article about the Okinawan diaspora in Hawaiʻi.

Also, not to brag, but rumor has it that the Okinawan Festival uses (or used to use?) a variation of my grandmother's andagi recipe. Mmmmmmmm.

Psst! The teams for Tian Xia and Dreams and Machines are full of fantastic people who I was incredibly lucky to work with. And both are on this list! Yay!

@amely.bsky.social Hi, Anne! Thanks for the follow! But, mostly, aaaaaa! You've worked on so many things I love! I adored the Lizzie Bennet diaries when they came out.

Okay. It's cool. I'm cool. I just needed to fangirl a little. :)
