Most modern day corporations, we are told, have the primary fiduciary responsibility to maximize shareholder value - a source of many societal problems. Compelling corporations to become Benefit corporations - adherence to the triple bottom line - would ultimately alleviate many of these problems.

2/2 A few examples: (1) The average ratio of executive pay to worker pay would almost necessarily be much lower than today. (2) Because businesses' interests would be more aligned with their communities, incidence of "ghost towns" created by mass job moves would be much lower.

1/2 Think long and hard - what would be the consequences if legal business entities were capped nationwide at some number of direct and indirect employees - say somewhere between 1000 and 10000. I argue that such a limit would ultimately cure many of the ills we face.
