To my knowledge that expression was coined and promoted by Steven Colbert during Super Bowl XLVIII because the broadcasting network (FOX?) wouldn’t allow other networks to even speak the words Super Bowl. I commemorated the occasion with a drink bell with an owl clanger.

To my knowledge that expression was coined and promoted by Steven Colbert on CBS during Super Bowl XLVIII because the broadcasting network (FOX?) wouldn’t let any other station use the words Super Bowl. I had it commemorated on my self designed Goldschlager drink bell with an owl clanger.
