Dude rolled hard. His wife and kids did too. One of his sons fought in Bleeding Kansas and eventually died at Chickamauga.

Here’s the tombstone. Ok the exact wording was “Opposed to slavery”.

The white coloration on the inner thigh of the inflatable frog costumes was a choice.

The text feels less like a joke and more like a preview of next week’s headlines.

Repost with a photo of seafront/shoreline/beach that you took.

Being home sick is awful, but there’s a silver lining in the opportunity to read. Currently reading the collected short stories of Charles Mungoshi. Picked up his book at the airport in Harare. Only one story in thus far and wow, just wow.

Picked up this absolute jewel by Petina Gappah in Harare. The characters in each short story have truly distinctive voices and there’s just a remarkable sense of place. Now I have to figure out how to find more of her work when I’m back home.

Heck yeah. Btw, look what I just found at the local library booksale. Lost all of mine during a move a few years back, so slowly getting the band back together so to speak.

Without downloading any new pictures, where are you at mentally?

Recommend checking out the alt text.

Damn skippy.

Wicked sorry to hear that - buying a new home is always a stress fest. Would a gander at a random alpaca help?

It’s telling that CNN is highlighting damage to some dead, rich guy’s mansion instead of a story about workers dying due to the callousness of their employer.

Me watching someone else’s movie on the plane, because I can’t decide what to watch on my own screen.

Went for a walk on a wooded trail to some playgrounds with my youngest. If I could enjoy anything as much as she enjoys a swing set, my life and writing would both be very different.

Another query away. Probably going to watch the D&D movie again and work on a blog post.

Meaning doing lots of research on places, times and cultures that fascinate me.

So while I’m doing that, enjoy this gratuitous pic of an alpaca with a cheeky sprig of clover hanging out its mouth.

I yearn for that simple of a life.

Maybe a substitution?

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #6,234,276!

And I signed up less than a month ago just before the bird place got banned in Brazil.

Moxie. Not so much because I like it (I do), but because I’m homesick.

I’ll see you and raise you a Greek American diner.

Ok, time for trashy Bulgarian music (чалга, адаш) and deciding which Aleko Konstitinov novel to reread.

I’m leaning towards “To Chicago and Back,” but could use a laugh so “Bay Ganyo” is in the cards.
