Looks like you won? And my search said G not PG - which would make the moderation even more absurd ( if that’s possible ? )

For the vast majority of you that didn’t get the standing on the coffee table reference it’s about Townes Van Zandt, who Steve Earl thought was a better song writer than Dylan (he’s right) thebluegrasssituation.com/read/standin...
Standing on the Table: Musing on Townes Van Zandt - The Bluegrass Situation
Townes Van Zandt was a body and mind tuned into something inaccessible to most.

See also ESG “UFO”: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAH9... I drove ESG around and fed them for a few days when they were in Chicago for a benefit. I asked about their much sampled guitar stab. They said basically that the tuning was all accidentally messed up but it sounded great so they recorded it!

Hopefully not. While I don’t buy all this (faulty assumptions etc), here is an interesting future scenario a few folks cooked up about AGI. ai-2027.com

Of course knowing what generative hath wrought, do we really think we can handle AGI in a safe and responsible manner? (Truly a question - I have few answers)

I took my band’s drummer out for breakfast. Our waitress was Janet Bean (Eleventh Dream Day, Freakwater). That day we learned “The Waitress Song” saw so real. www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0D0....

My first job out of college in 1990 was in AI. But it had nothing to do with what people now call AI. There’s a lot of AI crap - and a lot of untapped potential that is being left behind in the mad rush for LLMs and Generative.

Yep. But it has hype, and thus people throw money at it. There are lots of great applications, but it’s not really suited for lazy writing/art/music/etc. Garbage in/Garbage out. The mistakes were fun in a weird way - two years ago.

Basic old time (!?) Machine Learning is still more useful but because it’s too geeky it’s still not gotten the traction it should. You don’t need computers talking like people (poorly), you need them dealing with mathematical analysis on a scale people cannot handle unaided.
