Separately, prosecutors are proposing an aspirational 1/11/2027 start-of-trial date for Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and the other three defendants. That’s the 25th anniversary of the day the Bush administration opened Guantánamo prison, four months to day after the 9/11 attacks.

Col. Cohen was the third judge since 2012 to wade into the morass. This time, prosecutors are asking judge No. 5 to do it again, with a long list of uncertain milestones.

The one time a judge put a pin in the calendar for a trial in the long-running 9/11 case at Guantanamo, it was in the summer of 2019. Col. Shane Cohen designated 1/11/21. Then the coronavirus happened, along with a few other things and he retired.

Have we actually seen a confession or just heard there was one from Bondi's DOJ? Also, I have no idea whether or not it's the case here, but false confessions do happen.
False Confessions
