Middle-aged, socially awkward, Geeky, mostly harmless, & hopelessly irrelevant.
Don't address the elephant in the room. Board up the doors and act like you've never even heard of an elephant.

It's basically people who would rather ruin the opportunities for others to improve their lives, rather than make any changes to their own opinions or thoughts. Destroy reality rather than face truth.

Some people just get overwhelmed, and they resent seeing others prosper. I hate to boil it down to pettiness, as that is not my point. Many of those who feel wronged have earned that anger. But without healthier ways of expressing our pain, it can wither into cruelty and be dealt out aimlessly.

Which isn't to say it justifies the horrible way some people act. We all have some level of trauma in life. Unfortunately, adversity cares not for equity. It's that imbalance that prevents any solutions on a grand scale to come easily. We all bear the load.

Which is to say, I think some people never really figured out who they are. Who they want to be. How to a better version of themselves. They just never really felt comfortable enough to fight for themselves. Having your dreams crushed can really ruin a person.

So, without giving a sob story about yet one more socially awkward middle-aged existential crisis, let's skip to the moments of clarity.

Let's spin the wheel of morality. Or something like that.

I think we are dealing with a problem of "Fuck you and your happiness."

So, in recognition of my own inherent biases, squandered privileges, and unsolicited irrelevance, just let me speak my own truth and trust, I will be civil.

I'm tired and I should be in bed.

That and the fact that NOWSY features a female lead is also a selling point for getting my niece interested in a genre I adore.

She's a bit too young for Horror movies, but if and when the day comes that I can convince my wife and niece to watch something scary, I want this 'No One Will Save You' to be one of those movies. There are a lot of great PG-13 genre films that are perfect entry points for Horror.

'No One Will Save You' was really effective and it was PG-13. It's a movie I'm anxious to share with my niece one day. My wife and I have a tradition of having a movie night when our niece visits. We've been watching movies my wife and I liked when we were her age, and our niece shares her faves.

I just ache at the very knowledgeable that such pain could exist. My empathy may not feel wanted, but we're all deserve some compassion at least once. I'm really blitzed right now.

What was my point?

We all have our struggles. I can not fathom the idea of seeking out even more pain on top of what we are inevitably dealt. I don't know what else to say, as I also can't know that sort of hurting. I can't relate, so I can't judge.

When you take away that empathy and replace it with things like shameless greed, willful ignorance, prideful hypocrisy, and gleeful apathy, we lose our ability to care or love. We become angry, afraid, violent, and alone.

Horror often makes us have difficult conversations. It makes us face mortality. It also provides some excitement and exhilarating moments. A vicarious life affirming act of survival. A litmus test of morality as well. It actually is a genre that promotes empathy. We care about the characters.

I feel like there's an ironic potential for the themes of this documentary to be turned into an "exploitation flick", a la 'Hell House LLC.' by way of a snuff film produced by the team behind 'A Serbian Film'.

These stories need to be told, but it's hard to hear them.

"a lot to take in."
