This is weirdly common. My favorite is an example of the inverse problem.

A Star Trek VHS box set came out before Star Trek VI was released, and afterwards they tried to make it work with the same spine pattern, to decidedly mixed results (and then they did it *again*, but gave up that time):

I've seen it elsewhere, but I feel like this ironic, unmotivated frame composition is especially popular in British crime dramas.

Starting to watch "The Diplomat," and while the pilot episode had funny moments, it didn't prepare me for how much of a workplace comedy the series is.

It's very good at being that show, but I sorta miss the show I thought it was going to be in that first hour.

Once again, @jamellebouie.net avoiding the easy anger and seeing the full picture, but giving absolutely no ground on substance. Truly, the best to ever do it.

I use A, B, C but I *also* 0-index it.

It makes sense to me because I watch a lot of Star Trek and that's how they name Enterprises.

The main thing that today's Steam hardware announcement reminds me (and probably only me) of is the 1948 Paramount Decree.

"David Byrne's bandleader Ray Suen broke his prized violin ahead of the performer's show in Minneapolis.

But by an incredible stroke of serendipity, the man who made that very violin two decades ago was just a few miles away in New Brighton."

You know those 1ft gooseneck stands with an XLR connector at the end so you can attach a mic directly to it?

I just spent *an hour* trying to find *anywhere* that sells one. They don't exist. Rather, Shure and K&M once made them, but no one sells them anymore.

I did find *one*, but it's >5ft tall!

TIL is there no hyphen in the "half-price" part of the Half Price Books brand name. The logo even implies one, but no.

This is emotionally taxing for me.

I found two crisp dollar bills on the street outside my office as I was walking to a restaurant.

Then I found *another* one on the street about halfway to the restaurant.

It says something about where I am right now mentally that when I found the other one my first thought was "not again."
