The Irish Presidential election is impossible really. You set up a competition for a job that requires no agenda beyond being the person we wish to represent all of us at home and abroad.

So thats why we all go nuts in the process.

The Presidential in Ireland is always great craic. During the 2011 election Jody Corcoran wrote a piece in the Sindo in which one of my tweets was tied into a left wing plot to destroy the candidacy of Sean Gallagher. If only.

I, like thousands and thousands of others in this country, have no vote in Seanad elections. Now that is actually a real democratic failing. But the lads in the Sindo Times wouldn’t tell you that.

My final word - this Steen story is a story of elites obsessed with their milieu. They’ve all been to college together or share friend group. Journalists and the law library. It’s deadly fucking boring really and far removed from ordinary people’s lives.

I think most people do find it hypocritical though for an ultra Catholic to lecture the nation on matters of sexual and ‘family’ morality at every turn and yet choose to forget what the bible has to say about wealth and poverty.
