I’m sure there are numerous variables but it seems to me that the common narratives (brexit, USA election, Aus right now) are: things were better in the past (playing on false nostalgia); and why should we pay for lefty policies when we’re struggling (forgetting they benefit from said policies)

For what it’s worth I (with an almighty 60 odd X followers - mostly bots) abandoned X and came across on the back of Fitz’s ‘advertising’ of Bluesky. So far, one of my better decisions.
