Great, thanks. That could cover most likely a large part of my network and has the benefit of being open-source. Ideally there will be a solution everyone can live with instead of having a network distributed over several different programs.

Here is the answer: If buns (German Brötchen) and pretzels (Brezel) represent vertically and horizontally polarized photons, the 45° polarized photon is the superposition of both, called Brezchen. Very useful to visualize concepts of quantum teleportation.
