This lack of risk analysis on something of such importance leaves me speechless.😶

You idly wander into a Gem Museum thinking “bound to be pretty things inside”. Then a staff member sees you gazing at Quartz, and before you know it, you’re having a fascinating lecture about how 1960’s radios work. Museum staff have this superpower to unlock curiosity in people, and I ❤️ it…

That’s an image that naturally rewards an unhurried gaze…✅

I like the mist in this photo - it’s very atmospheric.

I thank you for the link to the ISDS document. And yes, it does seem ludicrous! As to politicians not being culpable for all our ills,I think part of the blame rests with the MSM. Are they trying to compete with social media by hyping up political personalities? it’s like it’s a soap opera!

Deep pink cherries are now flowering in Cumbria, the white ones peaked about a week ago… anyway, nice try with your photography 🍒🌸

🙂 I’m part of the Boomer generation whose OS was IBM MVS. A small % of us might read a Linux manual because we’re curious. But the user manual best browsed to understand many of my generation, most of the time, is actually the Daily Mail.

I like the imaginative, clear way you write threads btw!

- digital images of cats, however apparently friendly they look;
- weather that doesn’t tally with that forecasted by Phil Connors;
- rudely misshapen vegetables, however tasty they are…

The best bookshops give me a similar vibe.

Does Quantum Drama have much to say about the life and work of David Bohm?

Some people have fun by being “idly curious”. I do! I think that’s the basis of the flexibility towards learning you noted. I think It’s probably a personality trait, rather than something that necessarily requires higher educational attainment?

Quite. I’ve seen the stats you’ve probably seen. Tax avoidance and other scams, like the PPE scandal, is where HMG should be concentrating on to find the extra cash.

HMG have said they need to save £5billion by the end of the decade. So about c.1 million people, most of whom are probably aren’t financially well off, will lose £1000’s per year from Nov ‘26. My suggestion is that it would be better IF you had to do this, to ensure the wealthiest took the hit.

The criteria I’d use for universal provision would be “will nearly everybody need that support at some stage in their life?” Which includes everything you’ve mentioned. The logic being that there’s an administrative cost to means testing.
