Fastnet lighthouse blinks,
before vanishing in fog.
I search the silence.

but light does not return.
some signals
are not meant
to guide you home,
only to remind you
how far you’ve drifted.

Cromarty darkens,
Light it cannot belong to.
Tide rewrites the shore.

the wind will not ask
where I’ve been.
the sea does not flinch
when I arrive empty.
only the sky
wide, indifferent
traces the outline
of what I’ve lost.

My biggest fear is,
No one will read what I write.
And that someone will.

Sometimes, all we need is for someone to notice the sail is torn, and to ask where we are going.
