Law, done differently.
The point isn't that the authorities are dragging their feet, it's that for once they're saying hang on let's do this carefully, by contrast with the instant moral panic that always attends anything with a whiff of Islamic extremism or contrary to the vested interests of the politically powerful.

Beautiful composite image on a Crikey story today, and they're all our clients! Khaled Sabsabi, Jayson Gillham, Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah. Great Australians.

Statement from our client Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah. It is a tragedy that Adelaide Writers' Week has been destroyed, for nothing. However, this is a massive win for artistic freedom and hopefully a turning point in this time of unhinged McCarthyist witch-hunting. Randa is a hero and we love her.

Looking forward to the new program of panel discussions among various columnists from The Australian, and a day-long session where Tony Abbott reads his history of Australia in a loud voice.

Albo has an opportunity in this crisis to not permanently cement the public perception that he is weak, an opportunity he will decisively not take.
January 4, 2026 at 12:47 AM
A statement every bit as strongly worded as we’ve learned to expect from our national leader. You tell’em, Albo!
