Academic, art historian, obsessed with Scotland, gardening, and books. Spends far too much time in anatomical museums. Will eat cake.
As in a "hot commodity"?

Let the possum be, get yourself a guinea hen and some bats, and your yard will be mosquito- and tick-free, hurrah!

I am sorry to say that this year the US went directly from Halloween to Christmas: there are lights up everywhere, and Target has been selling Christmas ornaments for almost a month now. Normally, we save that stuff for the day after Thanksgiving, but apparently not this year!! (for... reasons)

Guessing it's been a while since he traveled in economy class -- people are desperate for comfort because it's freaking torture. Bodies forced to bend into shapes they aren't made for.

This is no solution, but recent research seems to suggest that putting prepared rice or pasta in the frig for 24 hours (i.e. leftovers) reduces the amount of sugars available, rendering it more friendly for those with insulin resistance, etc. I think I'm summarizing that correct, but best to check.

I remember how creepy this was but I also remember getting lost in LA trying to *find* the (non-conference) hotel and then the actual room -- I arrived hot, sweaty, and extraordinarily anxious, as well as late -- all things that could have been avoided if they had just booked an official space!

I highly recommend Laura Jeffrey Academy in St. Paul as an alternative to MPS. It's teacher-run (public charter), and I can't say enough good things about it. There are car pools from Mpls. Message me if you'd like to chat more.

I suspect there are parallels with the use of photography in anthropology -- especially anthropometric images.

Brontë (Charlotte not the others) any time. Although I would have loved to see Austen and Brontë sit down for a cup of tea and dish the dirt. (Sadly, it appears their lives overlapped by just one year.)

What's interesting is that apparently most Italian pasta companies use a mix of wheat grown in Italy (70%) and wheat grown elsewhere -- in Russia but also California & Arizona. So negatively impacting this market will also negatively impact American farmers. It's almost as if they don't care...

That looks more like a combination of the circulatory system and the nervous system -- the brain is shown, for example, which is more characteristic of nervous system diagrams. Just to be pedantic about it! ;)
