Also if he's just meeting someone & anything they do or say hits him the wrong way, it colors his perception for way longer than it should. Emmanellain put his foot in his mouth on their first meeting, & Dieter's still sort of holding it against him ten years later

He also refuses to communicate his needs, but when he says he's fine & people take him at his word, if HE thinks the truth should be obvious, he holds that against them. He's too proud to ask for help, so he expects others to read between the lines & know what he needs
