here's how it looks in-game. i like the little extra waiting but my levels are always pretty slow or self-paced. it probably doesn't work as well with faster-paced levels.

i feel so strongly about the pacing benefit of halvsies retry (vanilla animation with automatic reload) but it seems it's destined for controversy...
