Read any history of the Civil War and it will state that although the southern states took over federal facilities (that's how they armed themselves) the federal government did not offer armed resistance as it hoped to avoid a civil conflict.

Note that in Star Trek a tractor beam was used to tether a star ship to another ship or to a space station. But the tractor beam would not work if the distance was too great. Trump is much too far from reality to be tethered by tractor beam or other means.

The military might also consider refusing orders to kill alleged drug smugglers in international waters. I grew up on westerns and at least in those movies and tv shows the worst thing you could do was to shoot an armed man in the back. Shooting unarmed men in the back
