Southern (American) writer academic gay guy living in Cornwall (for now). Immigrant. Recovering publisher. NCSSM87. I write books and essays and things. Horror-adjacent. Neurodivergent. Had a very excellent cat until recently. Hello. 🏳️‍🌈🇭🇰
Very well said, and I agree completely. I aggressively use ad blockers, but the idea of ads being thrust on someone through their fridge? That’s some out of control Black Mirror shit.

This is appalling.

The new strain of Covid includes jaw and tooth pain as one of the potential symptoms. That’s how I felt when I was coming down with it. The sinus thing too. If your mouth keeps feeling worse and you know there’s nothing wrong with your teeth otherwise, that may be it.

Trust me, they do, and did.

I’m partial to skipping their funerals, but I’m cold like that.

I appreciate this. I left 20 years ago for a number of reasons, about which I have done more than enough ranting and others I couldn’t have articulated at the time. I admire the ones who want to stay and fight, especially the queer and BIPOC folk.

Relatable.

Why on earth would anyone block you?

Bognor Regis! No, hopefully Worthing, although the details are still a work in progress.

Nice. I’ll be living in the south’s gayest but for a couple of miles in a few months’ time, if all goes to plan.

I’m not sure where you are, though. It’s hard to imagine it being quieter than here, unless you’re on some remote island, or Uranus.

I quit Grindr a couple of years ago. Lot to pay for access to the same 25 guys in this part of Cornwall. The closest gay bar is in Devon. It’s scenic here, but dire in some ways.

Same here. The werewolf books were actually okay, but the prose was wildly overdone (I’m not sure when she sailed off into the purple zone). So much description of what everyone was wearing (which was often the same thing she always had them wearing).

Lasher was a key character in the Mayfair Witches books (loved #1, not so much #2 and #3). I don’t remember him crossing over into the vampire ones, but some of the later ones are kind of murky in retrospect.

I actually like him as an actor and don’t mind looking at him, but he was not the right fit for the role of Lasher.

Can relate. Yesterday I was like, how is it still the week? How are there still days left in this week?

I haven’t watched Talamasca yet but Mayfair was pretty wretched. Two epic casting fuckups in key roles (Alexandra Daddario and Jack Huston). And season 1 looks much like season 1 of Drag Race did, as if there was a layer of Vaseline on the camera lens. There were bits I did like, but mostly meh.

Weirdly enough, I have more or less halted my lifelong horrific IBS by taking an HCL supplement with every meal (I’m using two strengths based on portion size and time of day), and now I’m thinking these things might not be such a bad idea. I’m so used to the other extreme that, well, you know.

I’m enjoying this mental picture very much.
