I have one question. Does this friend “draw”? If yes, then they should begin using references. They help keep your details in tact. Without them you art “can” lack the “proper” details to make it polished. Overall References are apart of life, used in every industry.🤷🏾♂️
I showed an artist friend my recent sketches. They were impressed until I mentioned that I used references. Then they were obviously disappointed. What is this mentality of "art is only good when made without references"?
