Message from the front! During WWII, army dog Dolly served as a messenger dog on the border between Finland & Sweden. Dolly's handler regularly sent letters home to her owners, sharing updates about her well-being and performance. The two below are written on birch bark, 1944!

The Swedish Red Star, founded in 1917, was a voluntary defense organization primarily composed of women, dedicated to providing veterinary care and support for animals in times of war and crisis, particularly to war horses.
The organization (now Blue Star) still exists today.
