Europeans mainly want to live in safety, have a competitive economy and good energy and infrastructure, as Eurobarometer data shows (graphic via Financial Times). But most lack the awareness that this comes at a cost and won't fall from the sky, right?

Surprise? The EU is on course to meet its 2030 greenhouse gas reduction targets, writes @financialtimes.com. This is mainly due to a change in the energy mix. Let's assume de-industrialisation has a part to play. China also possibly reached peak emissions, and further reductions are possible.

More than two decades ago this was part of TNT production line in Greek factory. In 2027 it is supposed to be TNT production line again as Europe desperately increases ammo production. Managers and workers have a lot to do (not only here) to fulfill industrial wishes of EU politicians.

Good piece by @henrymance.ft.com in FT today on current wave of anti-Americanism. But I am not sure comparison with Bush works, now the American change is much deeper and consequencies for the world much broader.

The closer to Russia, the higher the defense spending (via @financialtimes.com) New wave of common EU defense spending is a test of European unity + ability to include non-members like the UK or Turkey with strong defense industries.
