Once sported a good face for radio. Gillingham til he dies. So hurry up Gills and DO something.
No I didn't. I'm saying that in.a country of well over 300 million people there have to better presidential candidates than Trump, Biden and (by default) Kamala Harris. I wouldn't disagree with a word of your assessment of Trump. Not just stupid, but dangerously so.

The Democrats are culpable here for offering potential supporters two very weak candidates, one too old the other lacking experience and gravitas. So you'll have to wait until the men in white coats arrive to carry Trump off. He's clearly barking mad.

Can anyone name a politician whose career flourished after changing parties ? (...apart from Winston Churchill )

Do Americans realise that Trump has brought about revulsion and uproar in the UK, and elsewhere in Europe, with his grossly offensive and demeaning comments on US TV about the efforts of NATO troops in Afghanistan ? It's totally untrue and repellent. And it comes from a draft dodger !
January 23, 2026 at 10:40 AM
....conveniently forgetting Article 5 ("an attack on one is an attack on all") has been invoked just once, immediately after 9/11 in the US. European troops died in Afghanistan and Iraq, many British. We hope their families forgive a boastful old man who only believes in democracy when HE wins.

Most folk now treat Trump like a care home resident, whose memory is as poor as his grasp of history. He prefers Hollywood's version of WW1 and WW2, claiming the US alone won both. In truth the US arrived late to both and only then out of self-interest. He also says the US gets nothing from NATO...

Oddly, Russia has openly stated its support for Trump's policy on Greenland. As we know, the Russian media is controlled by Putin in a way Trump can only dream about in the US. Newspapers were gushing in praise of Trump's expansionism, dismissive of European critics and urged him not to U-turn.
January 20, 2026 at 11:06 AM
It's not unfortunate ... it's deliberate. I heard him yesterday confirming that Greenland belongs to its residents and the Kingdom of Denmark -- until they say otherwise. But I've never heard him say anything with less conviction.

Trump has tried to extort money from other countries, allies and enemies alike. If his tariffs come back to bite him on his fat ass, even though he has corruptly loaded the US Supreme Court in his favour, the rest of the world will die laughing.
January 13, 2026 at 8:43 PM
It seems Trump views Latin America, even Canada, much like Putin sees Eastern Europe. That means he thinks he can use military might to control any part of it. There will be no tears shed for Maduro ... unless Venezuelans get Trump in his place. Will the US president now return FIFA's peace prize ?

Why does Trump pick military fights with Venezuela and Iran, and US cities that dare to vote democrat, but shy from confronting Russia over its unwarranted invasion of Ukraine ? The US president and Putin would be sworn enemies in the old world order. Today they are friends, both tyrannical bullies.

Do the Epstein files only contain sensationalist claims which are untrue ? Or is it only where they relate to President Trump ?
December 23, 2025 at 5:20 PM
This level of defence spending is bizarre, since the most serious threat to the US is Russia yet the greatest danger to Putin is having Trump's nose so deeply embedded in his rear end. There'll be no peace for Ukraine or their neighbours while US presidents take their orders from the Kremlin.
December 12, 2025 at 10:22 PM
Trump obviously told them he wouldn't turn up unless they gave him a Peace Prize.
Infantino : But Donald, FIFA doesn't do peace prizes ?
Trump : You do now, Gianni. Make the trophy a big one.
December 5, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Trump receiving a peace prize from FIFA is like Al Capone receiving one from the Mob. Whatever next ? The United Nations deciding who gets the Balon D'Or ?

Maccabi Tel Aviv have been in UEFA competitions for decades (because their neighbours in the Asian confederation don't want to play Israeli teams). Only now, in the midst of a horrendous Middle East conflict, are their supporters deemed to be racist hooligans.

Imagine the small boats crisis was fixed today (unlikely, I know) ... but what else would Farage have to offer the voters ? Nothing. He's a one-man party constantly in search of a divisive issue, prepared to rebrand to suit the political weather. There HAS to be someone more deserving of your vote.

For whatever reason, Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine by helping Russia to win it. This is why Putin knows he can take outrageous liberties with complete impunity. Europe and NATO must wake up to this reality NOW. Bizarrely, the "leader of the free world" sides with Russia.

I think Trump long ago accepted Putin's view that the quickest way to end the war in Ukraine is to help Russia win it. Hence Trump has no intention of applying effective trade sanctions and certainly not taking military action against Russia. He'll claim it's Europe's turn to pay to defend freedom.

So Mandelson's relationship with Epstein gets him the sack, while Trump's association (and remember the US president is a convicted sex offender) gets him a second State visit to the UK to dine with our PM and the King. It's the very definition of hypocrisy.
September 16, 2025 at 12:56 PM
Peter Mandelson has been sacked, even though he was apparently very effective as our US ambassador. Guilty by association, we're told. Everything that has followed is just tiresome political point-scoring that really doesn't impress the voters.

So amused by those who talk about a "failure to tax the wealthy." Some wealthy individuals pay enough tax annually to build an NHS hospital, while their critics often pay little or no tax at all. Who was it said : "Those who advocate robbing Peter to pay Paul, are guaranteed the support of Paul" ?

I'm amused by the idea there's something virtuous about being "working class." My credentials are every bit as good as Angela's but I've never sought the distinction, or used it to forgive my many shortcomings. I thought real "working people" didn't own property, much less use a trust to sell it.

You know it's a slow news day when Nigel Farage's woolly ideas to bring about zero immigration in the UK are leading the TV news bulletins.
August 26, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Trump not only wants to shoot the messenger, but anyone who publishes the message. You can see why he loves Putin. It won't be long before HIS political opponents start falling out of windows, doing time at Guantanamo or find themselves poisoned by Novichuk.
