A agree. But the conservative legal movement was in the tank for him and bailed him out.

They were still investigating in the first half, had to contend with encryption, and had to make sure that they were aligned with the house investigation - if statement diverged, that's grounds to impeach a witness's testimony

They had to be careful, lest they give Justice Roberts reasons to toss it out, and Roberts still tossed it out.

Yep, from what I understand, it's the other side of those trade contracts

dockyards for war production, he had the Royal Navy set up production of escort ship in civilian yards to maximize the number of hulls at sea. That year meant that the radar system was up and running, and that the Royal Air Force was sending up Spitfires and Hurricanes instead of biplanes.

Nope, Neville Chamberlain had a plan. He was waving that paper on one hand, and rearming as fast as possible with the other. If he thought peace was at hand, he wasn't pushing through the shadow factory system, he was funding the creation of an instructor cadre, he was setting up the royal navy

Ask Mark Carney???

Also super disappointed in Sir Starmer not backing up Canadian sovereignty.

I place much more blame on Justice Roberts and his court. He created presidential immunity out of whole cloth, drastically re-interpreted the 14th Amendment to save Trump, and gave him a whole bunch of freebies along the way.

Congratulations doctor!

If SCOTUS can rule against Trump in the fall of 2021, they could plausibly feel that doesn't kill GOP chances in 2024 - at that point many GOP pols still thought Trump might lose a primary fair and square!

By 2024 it's clear they rule for Trump or lose the WH and incur wrath of whole party

John Roberts and his court kept rewriting the rule as he went along. There's a reason why a bunch of liberal legal commentators have been saying "stare decisis is for suckers" since the first trump term.

So your vibes at what is a warcrime, rather than centuries of practice and precedent under the laws of war?

That kind of explains the tempest in your tea cup.

Like I used to tell my students: People remember o'l Betsy, but conveniently forgot about the "organ" donors that kept her on the road. And the best evidence for longer life is in the insurance amortization schedule and warranty lengths.

The Spitfire is the visible symbol of that delay, but the infrastructure behind it mattered even more. How many more would be dead if the British Empire shattered in 1940 when they were using biplane in the battle of Britain, or the dominions stay on the sidelines?

People forget what Chamberlain bought with his "folding" at Munich: Time.
That extra year allowed Britain to:
• Spin up Shadow Factories
• Train instructor cadres
• Accelerate the naval building program
• Deploy the Chain Home radar network

Let's hope that the standing orders follow proper handling procedures...

That was the major sin of the UK's battlecrusier fleet (other than leaving the Queen Es out of action and keeping a bad flag lieutenant)
