Koshka became the lap cat and loved nothing more than being combed and sleeping by us. It was like she had wanted this for years but made way for her sister.
And this is me the Zoologist putting human emotions on other animals 😆

I did enjoy this but I laughed when he banged on about "cups" & did not seem to understand US & UK pints. What in heck is a cup! Having been in America many times (and even taken my own travel kettle as making tea via a US coffee machine is grim), it seems to take forever to make a... cup of tea!

No Pete.

You were the second worst 😆.

Though *that* project with you was somewhat of a challenge, I feel we did some good work in the end. Replacing an Exadata with a €10K server was just brilliant!

I'll actually be in Birmingham for the #UKOUG conference in a few days, to do exactly what you suggest - to meet up with old friends. I won't be at the actual conference (being retired a pass would be just too expensive), I'll be in the hotel bar next door, drinking coffee and the odd beer.

I'm still an active part of the conference and user community, being president of sym42.org. I still go to the occasional conference but I'll never give a technical presentation again. I've done a couple of "softer" talks, like "memories of my worst project".

We had some discussions about more complex SQL, including pattern matching etc I believe, and also use of windowing functions and beyond - as it messed with my mind.
You helped a lot.

For me there was also an element of just enjoying the writing process. I still write blogs, they just never get published (as they are about DIY, bread, cats, & daft stuff).
But yeah, mostly it was to try to fix the info in my own head and let me look back at it later.

You are right, they changed over time, or it might have been changed as I geographically moved - or both!

My first Xmas bashes were in the NHS and they were OK, ones in Oracle were lush but full of twats. Charity science, nice.

London finance? Fucking awful. Every. Single. One.

And he still has all his fingers! They are bloody occasionally, but he seems, like, still intact!

I'm a cat person. I've had this one since she popped out her mum(& I still serve mum too). I took great pains to teach her both verbal & visual cues from birth. I spent hours & hours at it.

She's a cat, not one fig given!

But she will do ANYTHING if she hears a pack of Dreamies being opened.

I played it on an Amstrad CPC 464. Often greenscreen but occasionally on the family TV with my converter box.

Perhaps he knew the dog only spoke English?

Was the person you talked to called Jean-Paul?

I'll get Sue to post you a needle and thread.

If you know people who have never had it explained to them how filthy keyboards get, it's fun to ask them to turn theirs over and shake it over a piece of white paper...

Not as bad as your example, but usually pretty gross 😆

😆
Let that be a lesson to you to document your code!

{remember all those arguments about whether or not code should be documented?}
