Reflect on how you are redirecting students. Does your approach increase or reduce resistance? Be quick, kind, calm, firm and get to kids when redirecting. A student may not respond positively, but we can ensure we are not part of the problem. #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

When students are partnering, have them start coaching other students. They should coach on the skill they are missing. This allows for internalization. Additionally, having students coach students increases ownership and significance! #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

This week reflect on early intervention. One verbal redirect then take action. This allows teachers to reclaim classrooms for teaching and learning. This also builds adult credibility,, “If I say it, I mean it. If I mean it I say it.” #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

Right now students need the adults to be unconditional, predictable, and kind. Be unconditional by leaning into the relationship. Be predictable with structures and routines. Be kind in all interactions. Every student is worthy of success! #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

Lean into the relationship! Students must know they can’t be bad enough to get rid of us. When students reject, the adults must see this as a missing skill and extend a partnership to help guide students to more frequent success. #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

Connection is critical! By greeting students at the door by name on a daily basis you can increase engagement and decrease disruption. Be sure to intentionally assess and address student emotion in order to protect the learning environment. #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones

Boundaries provide emotional safety for students which helps reduce worry. Boundaries fall under: 1. It’s never ok to be disruptive to learning, it’s always ok to be a good learner, 2. It’s never ok to be hurtful, it’s always ok to be kind. #BISTon #AllInCARE @OurCornerstones
