On the cutting room floor is the bit where the host introduced their interview series, The Interview, and I asked how long it took to come up with the name. Anyway, here’s me talking about birds and science and burnout and moving through the world. The photo’s nice! www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

The Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer talks about burnout from covering the pandemic and how bird-watching gave him a new sense of hope.

I really like my profession but some days I'm just sick and tired of all the news, hype, the fakers, the players, the haters, the pick me girls/boys, liars and dirty cheats. How do you people shake it off and find some refreshing inspiration? I'd love to hear your strategies.

I have been so out of infosec social for a while. I’ve been pursuing an adventure of becoming a web-based graphic novel/comic creator. Life is too short not to pursue a dream.

Interesting diagram showing the type of #ADHD medications available. Not all of them are available in all countries though 😞

As this @nature.com article points out, in 4 years, #AI may run out of fresh training data, pushing us toward synthetic data or AI-generated inputs. The challenge? Avoiding a feedback loop of recycled machine-generated content. It’s time to rethink how we produce and share data for AI’s future.
The AI revolution is running out of data. What can researchers do?
AI developers are rapidly picking the Internet clean to train large language models such as those behind ChatGPT. Here’s how they are trying to get around the problem.

I'll get straight to the point.

We trained 2 new models. Like BERT, but modern. ModernBERT.

Not some hypey GenAI thing, but a proper workhorse model, for retrieval, classification, etc. Real practical stuff.

It's much faster, more accurate, longer context, and more useful. 🧵
