The yard knew May arrived today and they threw a party of violets for me!

Wild With Wonder - The magical tangle of wildflowers is testimony to our reliance on every living creature and the beauty that's created when we wrap our arms around each other, no matter how different we may think we are.

Oil on paper. 22x30 before framing.

The simplest gifts hold the greatest beauty.
This December a friend asked her son to rescue a little nest from one of bushes he was cutting back in her yard.

The intricate weavings are patched together with bits of birch bark and dried grasses, quite simply a bit of unexplained magic.
As are we.

The holidays arrive despite the fact I haven't turned the page on the kitchen calendar since September.
But tonight a little oil painting of a bird's nest. The nest a gift from a dear friend who retrieved it from his hydrangea tree. And gifted it to me.
And so I gift it to you.

I love chickadees. Those tiny but hardy and resilient visitors to my feeders. I have no idea how these little bits of feathers, bones and life survive the long hard NH winters, But they do. And so far I do too. A shared life is never exactly what you think it is.

The gardens are lovely in their spent beauty. Rose hips, the tangle of seed pods and dried grasses. The birds gathered at the feeders, dropping seed shells onto the grass below. Summer has left us but in her place is this new delicate beauty. For which I am grateful from my heart to my toes.

And we'll remember we're all made of stardust.
That the future contains all the potential our imagination, compassion and commitment to our grandchildren can conjure.
We're not done yet. Not even close.
