Fascinating. I have a 110 cm Louët 32 shaft Megado in boxes in my former dining room waiting on me to take a week off to build it. I went with the mechanical dobby though. My brain is getting too old for computers.

How did you determine that these were medieval spindles? From what region?

My new mug: give me coffee for the things I can change and tequila for the things I can’t.

Good job!!

I love them! Do you share? Sell?

Great choice!

Very nice!

Bravo!

You do that so neatly! My strips tend to “wander”.

Can you raise the shafts? I used to put a stack of books under mine between the bottom of the shaft and the jack. Having a bench you can lower and raise helps too. I had a pneumatic garage mechanic stool I sat on to thread. Taking off the front beam can help if it’s made to come off.

Table runners? Wall hangings? I saw someone hang 4 together on a branch to make a wider wall hanging. Mattress stitch several together to make a rug or floor runner?

I agree. And a little rug hooking on the side.

You go, girl!

Nice!

Nice Log Cabin pattern!! Well done.

That’s a lot of white/natural yarn! Where is your shop? And what is that gizmo in the front that looks like a round collar on a board? Leclerc loom? 60”?

Your selvedge edges look good to me! Assuming that your wool warp is going to rebound and fatten up in wet finishing, I think they will be perfect!

Pretty!

Your weft picks look too close to me and that color is overwhelmingly dark. Consider using a smaller size weft that is just a shade or two lighter or darker than one of your warp colors. Not a complementary color but rather a different value of a color you are using or an analogous color.

Don’t over-tighten your warp. It only needs to be tight enough to hold your heddle in place in the Up position and give you a clean shed.

A few reminders — if you are weaving with wool knitting yarn, pay attention to how much thinner it gets when it is stretched. You’ll want to place you weft picks a bit farther apart for when the warp springs back to its original size.

Well done!! That pattern really pops! Much better than what is shown in the book!
