The House Committee on Appropriations approved the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which includes an amendment to name the Opera House at the Kennedy Center as the “First Lady Melania Trump Opera House.” The measure passed 33 to 28.

Alabama passed the law this week that it is illegal to sell dead human bodies. I wonder what caused the need to pass a law like that?

This new Congress proposed 574 bills and passed 65 bills with only 5 days in session. That beats the stats for the entire month of January 2024.

HOLY SMOKES. Even I'm surprised. To put it in perspective, the entirety of January 2024 had 25 bills from Congress. So far in 2025, there have been 287!!

Was on a call to prep for a panel on the impact of trump on banking. Front office guy was gleeful, thinking regulation was going away, until I explained that the 50 states will each pass their own laws and start fining more aggressively to make up for the funding shortfalls.
