They’ve gone up, but 1,1130$ in 2019 for two bedroom doesn’t sound right to me. In 2017, we were paying ~1100$ for a one-bedroom in Longueuil. We actually had to move out of Montreal to find a deal like that. We were both PhD students at the time, so any apartment was fine if we could afford it.

Asking rents in Montreal have literally doubled since 2019:

“Rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Montreal has grown from $1,130 in 2019 to $2,272 in October 2025.”

They illegally built a large wooden structure in the Confederation Park to store their propane tanks used for heat and cooking, and SET OFF FIREWORKS RIGHT THERE!

The discussion here, & my response, was on climate change policies.
Air Canada strike: I’m with the flight attendants. I’m glad things are moving in their favour. In all governments, there are some unpopular actions. Easy for the opposition to claim they’d do differently (see BC & Manitoba NDP).

First, there’s not a single verified thing coming out of the negotiations. All speculations.
Second, I thought I was having a polite meaningful discussion. Your answer is unnecessarily rude and I stop this conversation.
Have a good day.

Could you please clarify? What exactly?
He said he’ll diversify. In 6 months, he’s signed agreements with Indonesia, Germany, Mexico, EU.
On US, he said he’s looking for a new trade & security agreement. He said that will take time.
What did he do that’s not in line with his promises?
marythemuser.bsky.social
I feel like many voters expected Carney to not do what he said he will do and now they’re unhappy. He said he’ll diversify! He said he will seek a new trade & security agreement with the US! He said our old relationship is over. He said we have stand on our own two feet…
Come on people!
marythemuser.bsky.social
Which ones exactly? Here’s my response to the comment above. I feel like some voters chose unintentionally chose to ignore some parts of his campaign. He said he will diversify, not cut off. You want him to cut us off the US cold turkey? People’s jobs and livelihood are on the line.
marythemuser.bsky.social
Elbows up is/was a movement of standing up for ourselves, as we’re doing. He said he will be working on to diversify our trade with reliable trading partners (refer to Indonesia, Germany, EU, & Mexico agreements signed), and he did say he will work on a new trade & security agreement with the US.

😳
He said he’ll cancel the Carbon Tax the first day.
He said he’s looking at pipelines, maybe, but not necessarily.
He talked about the nation building projects and that’s what he’s doing. Among the first batch of announced projects, are both renewable and classic projects. As he had said before.
marythemuser.bsky.social
He clearly campaigned on everything he’s doing now, & was elected. If he had majority, I’d complain. He doesn’t. And it’s not like he didn’t get a majority because he wasn’t “left enough”. The other party’s electors wanted something much worse! Carbon tax was extremely unpopular. Stupid, but it was.
marythemuser.bsky.social
If he had a majority, sure. Lead. If we were a 4-year presidential system, sure. We didn’t give him a majority. At any moment, all could be lost. I rather have this approach, than going backwards on climate policies the way US is going, where anything “renewable” is automatically rejected now.
marythemuser.bsky.social
“Doing nothing” would’ve been ideal if they had been elected. They would’ve gone the same path as the US, where right now you can’t even write “renewable energy” in a grant application, otherwise it gets automatically rejected. How can people see that & still insist their approach is correct.
marythemuser.bsky.social
How exactly a “politician” can go against the public opinion? It’s in the job description! I don’t understand. Majority right now are stupid and aren’t worried about the future of their kids. How can a “politician” go against that? It’s the job of the elected to do what they’re elected for.
marythemuser.bsky.social
“Subvert the will”?!!! The elected members want to override my constitutional rights! I should respect that? If the elected members want to bring back slavery, we should respect that?!
marythemuser.bsky.social
Such disappointing reporting. An “unpublished study” shouldn’t be reported. Studies should be peer-reviewed, published, then reported!

He’s an asshole with ultimate power over nuclear weapons.

The guy has a BA in economics from Harvard and a PhD from Oxford. He’s been the governor of the central banks of not one, but two G7 countries! And he has to sit next to this moron rambling on about his war crimes.

Trump: "We call them the water drugs. The drugs that come in through water. They're not coming. There are no boats anymore. Frankly, there are no fishing boats. There are no boats out there period, if you want to know the truth. Does anybody go fishing anymore?"

Nah Poilievre wins no questions there. Smith can be “charming” if it suits her. Poilievre for the life of him can’t even smile without looking creepy!

If it’s “his” job and livelihood on the line, sure. He can punch the guy for all I care. It is not. My job isn’t either, so I’m gonna restrain & not suggest a moral fight. He has to take care of Canadians jobs. And if he can’t, we’ll definitely go the same path US is going, with Maple MAGA.
marythemuser.bsky.social
People are like “Why did he laugh? Why he didn’t punch him? Why he’s sitting there? Why hasn’t he made a deal yet? Why he’s not cutting us off from the US cold turkey?”
Bunch of… I don’t wanna say!

TRUMP: The merger of Canada and the United States! I'm only kidding

CARNEY: That wasn't where I was going

First, Canada & China were the “only” countries doing any retaliation. Retaliation could’ve worked only if all/majority of the countries had done it. Second, retaliatory tariffs were paid by us Canadians. Majority are glad they’re gone.
