Suffering what ? The Chinese have a different lifestyle to the west, freedoms are less yes but is it worse than the US with one of the most unequal societies in the world, with endemic corruption and drug issues of the chart in some places.

Which I’m Slightly sad about as the future with China and others calling the shots doesn’t sound great. But right now I couldn’t care less what happens to the US and its people given how betrayed I feel with there attitude to its allies and Ukraine.

China will emerge stronger at the end of this. Key underlying strengths for the US (dollar reserve, strong worldwide allies) have been undermined. It isn’t coming back from this. We are watching a change of an era before our eyes. The future isn’t the US anymore.

Something like 2 or 3% of Chinese GDP is linked to exports to the US. I think they will be ok. The US with a lot of debt, likely dedollarisarion taking place right and a bunch of former allies who hate you isn’t looking pretty right now.

And the US sells plenty of services, a fact not widely understood. Driving back cheap manufacturing jobs at the expense of allies dropping US services isn’t a smart move.

But even with 100% is still cheaper to make stuff outside of the US. I get targeted tariffs but these aren’t smart.
