Love this unusual visitor that volunteered in the back of my garden, and returns whenever the weather gets wet and rainy. Our old friend Clathrus Ruber
A Clathrus Ruber fungus grows on sun dappled earth. It is also known as Red Cage and it resembles one. It has a rubbery texture like a dog toy, and is shaped like a hollow dodecahedron defined by its reddish coral edges. It's remarkably strange.

Bay Area Fall
A pristine, freshly bloomed calla lily blossom glows subtly in the weak sunlight of a Bar Area winter morning. A few fig leaves are in the background, and the ground is covered with dry Coast Live Oak leaves. An acorn and its cap happen to have landed, and nestled snugly, right in the center divot of one of the Lily's broad, heart shaped leaves!

It's Caturday somewhere

The first Caturday of November

Spookier and spookier
A jack'o'lantern is carved with a round backed cat silhouetted against the full moon. It glows with warm orange light of a candle lit within. Arriving at Lake Merritt BART the entire train was packed to the gills and we flowed into an endless sea of people walking towards the lake and that's when I found the brass band which made my day
